Goods are important resources which will be needed for a couple of different ingame features. You can get goods as a quest reward, from incidents or from the Guild Expeditions. Normally you would need to build Goods Buildings to produce certain goods there. You can produce up to five different goods per age.
Since neither the buildings, nor the productions are cheap it makes sense to only build the goods buildings for which you already have founds the Goods Deposit on the Campaign Map. If you have found a Good Deposit then your production in a Goods Buildings will be boostet and you will produce five times more good than without. Until the Modern Era you will find two different Goods Deposits per age. Therefore it's not possible to have access to all Goods Deposits per age. Other needed Goods can be traded with other Players against the Goods you produce yourself.
You will need Goods to negotiate Sectors without fighting, to unlock new Technologies, to negotiate in the Guild Expeditions and to complete certain Quests or Daily Challenges. There is no Good which will not be needed, even though it may seem otherwise at first.

Refined Goods
With reaching the Modern Era, Goods will be refined. This means, that for the production of Goods not only Coins and Supplies are needed, but also Goods from previous eras. The Goods Deposits needed to boost those productions are also from previous eras. Therefore you will need Goods (Deposits) from Bronze and Colonia Age in the Modern Era to produce Modern Goods. For the Postmodern Era Goods (Deposits) from Iron and Industrial Age are needed.
Since most Great Buildings and Special Buildings only produce unrefined Goods, they will not produce Goods from the current Age, but the double amount of Goods from the previous Ages, needed to produce Goods of the current Age.

Special Goods
Special Goods are available with the beginning of Arctic Future. They can't be produced in a goods building, but need to be collected with a Ship or Submarine. Special Goods can't be traded or plundered.
